View Full Version : Interference on one of my computers is messing up the TV

I'm going to rip out the TV Tuner in the box. As soon as I turn on this computer, the Sony 24" flat screen TV loses some of it's reception. Still using an antenna and don't plan to switch anytime soon to cable. Could the Antec 380w PSU (taken from a Sonata case) cause this problem, if it is not the TV Tuner? None of the computers are connected to the TV, nor are any of them plugged into the same circuit as the TV.

I have another system with the AIW9000 Pro and it does not have this problem. None of my other computers cause interference, so I know it's not something to do with where the computer is plugged in or the cabling (all my computers are in one location in the house). I did replace the PSU power cord with a much thicker cord-no change. The video card has been replaced. I'm using onboard sound.

Any ideas on what else to check?

1. enable spread spectrum in bios
2. make sure pc case is closed..
3. put something between your pc and tv... heh

So that is what is spread spectrum helps with-always wondered what the heck that was. :)

It is.

It currently is but makes no difference. Have a 1 inch thick solid wood wall (I know it's solid, I had to drill a hole through the bugger. :D ) and then the TV is sitting on a 1" thick wood shelf on that.

So I guess that leaves the spread spectrum. :) Thanks.

Any other things I should try?

That's ok. AFAIK, I'm not really pushing this system that hard. It's only working at 2.2Ghz on a Barton with default vcore.

Spectrum was already at .5, raised it to 1.0 - no difference. Removed the TV Tuner from the system-no difference. Does this mean that the Antec 380w was made for the Antec Sonata and if installed in a Cooler Master Alum. case will cause problems? :( :(

Hmmmm, just turned on another computer and watched very closely the TV, a slight degrade of the reception was noticed. This computer has a TV tuner in it as well. Should I consider something different from the regular coax cable that I'm currently using?
