i was watching some of the E3 coverage on G4TV lastnight...and i could have swore i heard them say that EA has bought all the rights to use the NFL for their use only in EA videogames!!!! Please tell me this isn't true!!!! iIf this is true there will be no Sega(ESPN) 2K6 released!!!! :yikes: I liked it way better tham madden and they where selling the game right off the presses at 20 bucks a pop brand new, which kept madden prices in check...now madden is going to monopolize the genre and the price will probably be through the dang roof!!!! Please if any one can shed some light on this for me in more detail that would be awesome...as i am a huge football gamer ...it's what got me into video games hardcore to begin with!!!! PLEASE SAY IT AINT SO!!!!!

not only have i found out that this is true...but they have bought the exclusive rights to ESPN for the next 15 years!!!! So lets look at the big picture here. They have bought the rights for exclusive use of the NFL for the next 5-6 years and ESPN for the next 15 years...and if thats not enough thet are trying to buy up the rights for their own exclusive use of the NBA, NHL and MLB!!!! This is terrible!!!! A very bad thing is going on here as EA has long been accused of not making any real changes to their games for the last few years except for roster changes and charging out the arse for these minor changes!!! Many feel (myself is one) that Sega was really closing the gap on the EA sports franchise and Sega was selling their sports titles brand new for 19.95$ to boot!!! Now what reason does EA have for upping the anty for us sports gamers??? The prices will no doubt go up and the progress i fear will be minute if any!!!! I really do not like this one bit....and poor Sega another nail in their coffin i fear!!!! :(

i hear you flex, all the politics, yes...but look at the bright side - the next gen consoles are going to rock your socks off regardless and these new platforms themselves are going to force a raise of the bar for everyone (already has) - even EA I suspect. So I guess what I'm saying is wait and see, no one likes a monopoly (except the monopolists) - but you might be pleasantly surprised and get countless hours of phenomenal gameplay despite...I hope I'm right my friend
All the new consoles are going to rock. Each one will have their strength. . .

This is bad.... real bad!!! :(
Look at the reviews of the later ESPN (sega) sportsgames... They got a lot higher rates than the EA stuff... BAH... another one bites the dust... Sega was on its way back but Killer Munkey is right, they won't stop until they consumed every ounce of competition! :beat:
BTW: lack of competition is bad in every field or franchise.....
