I put a CDRW disk in my CD writer last night. The light flashed as usual, but instead of it finally staying on once the disk has been read, no light at all. I looked in Windows Explorer but it wouldn't let me access the drive. I then tried to eject the disk and it wouldn't eject, either manually or via software. So I used a paperclip to eject it. I then rebooted, and tried to open the drive door, but it still wouldn't respond. I looked in device manager, but the drive is not listed, nor was it listed in Windows Explorer. It is the master on the secondary IDE channel and is listed as such in the BIOS. I checked Windows event log via SiSoft Sandra. I think this CD writer probably just died but was wondering if anyone else has come across this problem. Also, the hard drive LED is staying on. I checked cpu usage and it's only at 2% and no odd running processes. Here's the event log:
