this is my first brush with raid so bear with me...
asus p4c800-e delux
on sata 1 (non-raid) maxtor sata drive
on ide promonise raid controller 2 x ata 100 western digial 120 gig 8 mb cache configured as raid o
i used ghost 2003 to clone the original maxtor (which i had my system on) to the new raid array. (btw ghost said it needed to create an id? wt?)
i then booted with all three and the system now saw 2 drives, my maxtor and the raid array. i then rebooted after taking out the sata drive. this time the system hung at the windows boot up screen and i cant get past it. now im wondering if having booted with all 3 means xp renamed the letters assigned to drive 2 (raid), so when i try to boot with it on its own there is no c drive. but then why try to boot at all? im a bit stuck now since i need to know that i can back up the raid by cloning to another disk and that the back up will boot, otherwise im basically in the p00p!
