I have ordered the P4C800-E Deluxe board now, its time to order the hard drives. I want to run Raid 0+1. Can I do this with 4 SATA drives running on both controllers or do I need 2-SATA plus 2-UDMA drives running only the Promise controller? If this is too elementry a question for this forum, feel free to spank me by remote control after you answer it.
You need 4 SATA drives, or 4 IDE drives w/ SATA converters or 2 SATA drives and 2 IDE drives.
You best bet is 4 SATA drives, 2 on the ICH5-R controller, and 2 on the Promise SATA connectors.

 Hi Group its me "feslope" confused again!! I have had my P4C800-E deluxe up and running for quite some time now. I am using 4 Seagate 160 gb sata drives, 2 on intel controller and 2 on promise controller. OS and programs are running on intel. Both Intel and Promise are running Raid 0. All looks well and full volumes are shown.
I can poke around in the PAM and it looks like if I set those (PAM) drives for security they will mirror one and another. My goal here is to run 0 + 1 using the two striped arrays. How do I turn it on and create the initial mirror?
I have and can give much more detail. Not being sure if it would help I won't do it here. I would be interested in hearing from one of you who is using this configuration.
Thanks in advance.

Your confused, I still can't load my OS on the two Sata drives on the intel controller. How the heck do you get past " Put driver for controller in A"?
Fossil,
Download Intel's IAA program and create the driver disk. That is the disk w/ the drivers that is needed to install the OS w/ RAID.

I know the exact feeling. You are going through the same learning curve I did a few months ago. For a more detailed explanation of the procedure review the thread that enlightened me at Driver install (http://www.bleedinedge.com/forum/showthread.php3?s=&threadid=1053) You can download the driver from intel or just get it off your Asus install disk included with the MB. Explore the disk and copy the driver to a floppy. When loading the os press F-6 when asked if you have other devices to install, insert the diskette when it asks for it and the driver will install. It is a little confusing at first and I think it took me a few trys. Worst thing you can do is suffer in silence. :-)

Thanks everyone. I feel like an idiot, but atleast I have my OS on the raid array. Sometimes when solving a problem we look for the complicated resolution instead of the simple solution.
;) Let us know if you need any other help Fossil. Enjoy your new setup.
